I found that its factions determined by their zodiacal sign were found well, especially as they find features of personalities which correspond to every home, and I had sincerely a good time seeing them so staged. Given that it is a first volume, the Home of the Cancer, that of the Virgin are visited only and that of Geminis, I can say to you that I am already impatient to visit others! Each has her world, her folklore, the way it thinks. « We share the same world but we live in the different worlds. p277». They find that the whole world of Science invention and of war of territories which are productive, interesting intrigue. They follow therefore this Rhoma, watch des Cancer, in the seizure of power, while managing various emotions which go with. To leave on board of vessel in the universe, returns us this more amusing and original trip. This intergalactic conflict is not a mission earned beforehand, it is necessary to fight, besides a mysterious Bogey, against prejudices and human stupidity: the whole programme!!!. « Self-importance, one of the worst defects of the human being. The face is veiled by daring to pretend that everything is known while the world is just unknowable. » p170. The only flat that I regret little, (although this does not set up as in a lot of classified book Youth a lot), it is the famous loving triangle! This irritates me this in a point!!!!! As though to be a teenager this means to hesitate willy-nilly, and to knock each other about two guys. Here I thought that with detachment, the authors would not tear along any more towards this plate, (it is necessary to think that he is going to be even served again to us for a long time ) but ok it is only my opinion. In short, I passed a very nice instant of reading, I loved the world proposal which gives us Romina Russel, and I devoured this book to the end of the night! I am very impatient to read the continuation of the adventures of Rhoma, and I hope to read it very soon!!!!!. Although moved away enough from my type of predilection, Zodiac attracted me a lot. The column of SAE had apparently persuaded me that I had to attract blow, and even if I am far from sharing its blow of heart, I however passed one very right time. I was won by the world and I confess that Rhoma, the principal character, was extremely nice to follow, but I found that the novel missed a little of rhythm. Rhoma, therefore, lived on the planet of the Cancer, who sets up in a world composed of several planets and moons where live on representatives of each of twelve astrological signs. ![]() The girl is a student as others, who shares her time between repetitions with her music group and her studies with the intention of becoming a protector of the Zodiac. She is however the only one to receive in stars a terrible threat which glides over all the planets constituting its world. And yet its premonitions turn out to be fair and, very quickly, terrible disasters occur, starting with the explosion of one of the moons of the constellation of the Cancer. the fact that she is the only one to have seen the cataclysm arriving projects Rhoma on the front of the stage. She knows that it is only the beginning, that other planets are in danger, and she discovers fast where from comes threat. But nobody believes the teenager who is the only one to receive this threat millennium which entered the legend and that is not more than a tale for child, and it on each of the planets. As I said it, the world is really represented well, nice to discover and to visit, and original of a lot of ways. Each of the planets is populated with inhabitants just like the sign which represents them, and if the Zodiac lived in harmony in surface, number of prejudices and of difference divides planets. They have very a leader, a very particular way of life, stocks to which they are tied. Rhoma for example, which is Cancer to the fingertips, is somebody of right and of franc, which likes neither lies, nor tricks. The girl is an interesting character. She is strong, in sense where she succeeds in taking her new role and in not departing from her version of facts while everybody is against her. But she is also full of very natural weaknesses, she is afraid for her family and people whom she loves, she is afraid of her feelings, to become ridiculous, to fail. The heroine is touching and nice to follow, it is a brand while being a credible teenager, and it is refreshing. Rhoma is accompanied in the search by two young men: Mathias and Hysan. the first, Cancer also, is older, more reassuring, calm and thoughtful. He is his guide and his anchoring point throughout the novel. He is also his crush of young teenager, but he is part of those who do not believe it, while remaining her terrifically faithful. And Hysan is a lively young man, native to the Balance, voluntary, warm and especially, the first to believe it. Yes, you saw him coming big as a home, oh well it is earned: it is a loving triangle! And surprisingly, this trio has a sense, a harmony and a some credibility. They are far from heaviness that Young Adult is found in some novels, really they take the time to give rise to feelings and to construct each of relations. It is as case with each of the characters as meets Rhoma. Zodiac leaves therefore a nice place in love song, and I confess that even I who am there refractory in general, am mildly let to me go to prefer one of the young men in the other (Hysan, for the curious. The background and the characters are apparently the strong points of the novel. Intrigue is also very nice, but I found that things advanced at a slower pace. I felt like following Rhoma in its search across the different planets and smelling the emergency of situation, I felt like trembling with fright facing the threat which always glided above the head but I more felt being allowed to carry until this throws me over. After reflexion, it was probably to leave the time in relations between each of the characters to settle, but I find that rhythm suffers from it a bit. It does not change the fact that I loved the idea of departure, that the side Science-invention really won me, that all that touched the history of the Zodiac and the threat hidden and forgotten by all really took me. And during the last pages, rhythm accelerates, leaving the reader with the end which gives apparently desire to pass to continuation. I wait therefore for the second volume, which promises nice surprises. I thank Camille and Michel Lafon for the very nice instant which I could pass thanks to them!Link:. He attracted me since I had heard about it, this history around the Zodiac and of Serpentaire, the 13th sign made me very curious. It is the world which speaks to me and intrigues me. Then, the cover is very pretty and it is with joy that I thank editions Michel Lafon as well as Livraddict for this partnership. The novel is brilliant and absorbing, even if it suffers from some not negligible defects without being unpleasant however. I am therefore going to begin with the negative to finish towards the absolutely remarkable points which make of Zodiac a good novel and a first great opus of very promising series. It is a serious paving which is legible and nice to take in hand, a bit heavy, but very well-manicured with these signs of the zodiac to mark ellipses in chapters or these drawings by way of letterhead of chapters. He is long and sometimes very long, some passages would have won in emotion if they had been a little shorter and more percussive. Second light worry, the loving triangle sometimes very embarrassing, between lies and the truths, between cat and mouse. Even if I confess to have detested Mathias and preferred Hysan very widely. Rhoma and at Hysan, it is fusional, they their past, by not easy feelings gnaw to be lived, they understand each other easily, they are really very nice together. Love song is however completely secondary in the story. Last worry, the «I I advance moves back». Rhoma wishes that to prove everything more the existence of Serpentaire and to proclaim than they are all in danger. It is necessary to wait for the end to have a breakthrough in his sense. All novel, it is «the 13th sign exists»,« But not»,« But yes»,« But it is a fable for child»,« But I have proof», «I see nothing», «You are not as me, I have supers powers». What joins my idea of length. However, and I insist, the novel can perfectly be rousing, once in action, in these political games, in war, I was caught from start to finish. I read the novel in three reading stages, without stopping, proof that it is quickly addictif. The end is moreover, a true heartbreak, they sweated as much as Rhoma and his companions, it is at the end controlled and very absorbing, that gives directly envy to rush on the following. What also persuaded me that this novel is atypical, it is its mythology. Which marvellous job to construct this world, finally these worlds; every planet of the Zodiac has his security guard, his specificity, his laws, his politics, his code. Cancer are very family, carried on fidelity while Geminis are centered on imagination, Bull represents application while the Balance concentrates on justice or Pisces on spirituality. It is impressive to discover every plot of ground developed by the author, to see this mythology around predictions, Block calendars, astrology. These are terms specific for this world and however, they are reinvented and well reused to give a story of very high quality! Every notion is explained well thanks to the feather of, fluid and nice to read. Descriptions and dialogues chain themselves, if some points are long, others submerge us completely in the world. All this affair of Serpentaire and of 13th sign fascinates me intensely and I hope to find following answers or key elements to advance. This volume is more than a simple introductory volume. He has a history rather well controlled and captivating. Rhoma was happy, in spite of the loss of her mother, until the day when an attack on its school encourages her to go back to Cancer. She will become then the Watch of the planet, between the research of proof and to find her father as well as her brother, she is going to see a divided Zodiac, ambitious, selfish. Sometimes friend, sometimes enemy, she is going to have to teach, confide, grow, it is a palpitating initiatory search. the character of Rhoma is interesting to follow for his evolution, for his so strong determination as his blindness. She is special, strong and sensitive, spitfire and careful, I loved following her thoughts thanks to the "me". I am more measured on the other hand on other characters. First the Dr Euta or other Security guards, the fact than Rhoma is another teenager pose apparently discusses, is she at the height? She is treated as kid, it is mortifying at the same time and offending according to met situations. They are besides very good to turn the jackets. Sirna, Agatha or Rubidum (one of both watch du Gémeaux) was unpleasant to me before becoming nicer in the course of history. Only, as Hysan, I still do not know if it is necessary to trust or not. Hysan is a brilliant, inventive, odd, delightful and interesting teenager, it is one of the rare to follow Rhoma. If all are persuaded that Serpentaire exists, him in no way. It is a good spy moreover, a good liar, I love his personality, but I am afraid to discover the more unpleasant truths concerning. Mathias has me insupportée from start to finish, I was completely uninterested to his fate. I detested his prejudices, his cynical comments, his horrible and irritating behaviour. What hits me most with these characters, it is that they know of them what they feel like showing us, the truth promises to be very different and I fear this effect later, he would announce serious problems for Rhoma. In conclusion, this novel has many trumps to be brilliant. It is great as first volume of a series which proves to be very interesting to follow. Mythology, characters, rhythm and feather are of very high quality, treated, worked; I had that very seldom got bored. It was a very nice reading and a surprising discovery, a nice history, a final one epic, I am delighted to have read it in spite of some minor defects. I thank Editions Michel Lafon and Camille for this reading in service is pressing. Zodiac had me all air to be a very absorbing novel, with a world of the most peculiar. Then when I was chosen for the chroniquer, I was in joy! After all is said and done, I was served, between actions and situation reversals, I barely saw pages turning that I have already approached the end. the world of resembles no other one. Unfortunately, the last events in date (the fusillade of Paris last Friday) considerably decelerated my reading, however very absorbing. Especially since main topic concerned war and mass slaughters. This reading more touched me than usually, because when I put my television out to read, oh well I was with a retort of events which we indeed lived. Complicated, therefore. In other circumstances, I would have undoubtedly even more savoured this history. Zodiac, it is the history of Rhoma, young one Acolyte (a student) of 16 years the dream of which is to become Zodaï, warlike charged one to protect the galaxy. She lives in a solar system completely different from ours who contain many planets. Every constellation has the name of one of twelve signs of the zodiac that we all know (Ram, Sagittarius, Balance etc) and every peuple has its personality and its urban legends. Rhoma, her, is Cancer and lives on a planet in most composed of water. One day however, it is disaster. She makes a prediction which nobody takes seriously and that ends up coming true, drawing away so the demise of million persons. Without knowing how too much, Rhoma finds itself projected at the rank of Mother, by becoming the watch of the constellation. She is young, unskilled, and especially terrified. And if she is persuaded that her predictions include a big part of the truth, one firmly decides on it to inform about it and to tell all stars in danger. Accompanied with Mathias, Zodaï Cancer as appealing as worthy, and Hysan, one Balance with centaur smile, she is going to go through the galaxy to spread absolute news. danger prowls everywhere and terrible Ochus waits for it in turn. First I would like to tackle the question of mythology. leans on legends well to her, fantastic stories which stick on perfection in typically futuristic ambience. If Zodiac registers in science fiction, there is however a light key of fantasy in here which is translated by a magic really well turned. The galaxy is described with a lot of realism, and if the beginning is a bit laboured because of very specific vocabulary, they end up loving and to appropriate the world of the author. This takes time, but once bases are approached, they end up feeling as a fish in the water. For all that, I say hat, because this originality is distilled well. the reader is not drowned by all information, but evolves in the history not afterwards not. Every element of the woof in its importance while the rooms of jigsaw puzzle take form. Concerning Rhoma and the characters who cross his way, I have also quite a lot of things to be said. I always have a little trouble to tie me to the heroines. I cannot say to you why, it is just like that. Unfortunately, Rhoma did not make exception with a ruler. So much I greet his courage and his determination. Characters as her, they do not cross it in all books. In only 16 years, Rhoma has a donation to absorb blows and to get up again every time. People try unsuccessfully to disappoint her or to betray her, she always manages to scoop out force from her to go forward. She is carried by her tenacity and never leaves as one might say. Where I had a bit trouble, it is at the level of the loving triangle which very quickly took shape on the horizon. Having said that, he does not have a lot of place and I was very relieved of it knowing that I find it very difficult with this. But arrived at the last hundred of pages, I began creaking of teeth. Throughout history, the author lets us think that Rhoma made its choice, but it is not really case. I loathe of heroines who cannot choose between untel and untel and who as a result make a bit with the whatever (even if it is not possible to withdraw her that she feels guilty a lot). I think that it is the only remark really negative that I will have to make on this subject. Now, let us pass Mathias in Hysan and who are, as Rhoma very just points him out, in the daytime and at night. Mathias is a loyal friend, a right man in patriotic mind. It is a bit rock of the heroine, constancy in its life where everything does the camp. Hysan is rather complex and secret, they find it difficult to understand his motivations at the beginning, but he fast inspired me of sympathy. Very confident and always sibylline, he promises many surprises and its secrets are always very interesting to discover. Both boys are the protectors of Rhoma and even if the understanding between them is not always there, they are going quickly to become necessary to the search led by the girl. The feeling predominating in this novel, it is injustice. I felt so outraged facing some situations that I would have liked to enter the book to distribute baffes. Rhoma is only a teenager, facing other dignitaries she is not taken seriously and struggles to make a place. His premonitions, nobody wants to hear about it, these are only nonsense! The girl cashes, cash in hand, cash in hand, but never she abandons its designs, even if it means taking risks. And Zodiac it is also this: goodbye in childhood to enter in the age of responsibilities. Rhoma is going to test difficulties of the world of the big, that where blows below the belt and alliances are commonplace. Know that the end very hurt me, because the author pushes maneuver until the end, leaving us horrified and with the desire to have continuation on the field. In summary, it is a very much nice reading, a world invented from A to Z which leaves dreamy. Zodiac has its small defects, but it is however a good book which does not leave us a lot of respite. Still thanks to Editions Michel Lafon for discovery, I am impatient to read the volume 2. On the occasion of the next exit of the volume 3 of this saga, I decided to reread first two volumes, to plunge me back into the incredible world which offers us. It is already necessary to know that this first volume was a blow of huge heart, and it from my first reading. Besides the sublime cover, the fourth of cover is more than tempting. I am going to try to explain you in some points reasons for which this first opus is brilliant. We follow the adventures of Rhoma Grace, a young person native of the Cancer. In this galaxy that the Zodiac is, there are twelve constellations assimilated with twelve astrological signs. However, and as the summary lets it predict I am going to avoid any spoiler a growing threat catches unprepared our protagonists and throws them into an unbridled running against time. Rhoma, who in spite of the youth is have a considerable weight on shoulders, must face up an enemy of the strangest and all that is known, it is that he seems to come from a mysterious thirteenth Home of the Zodiac. To begin, it can seem difficult to cast anchor perfectly in history from the beginning because there are quite a lot of terms and concepts invented by the writer, but they are recurrent, and once assimilated, this is only augmenting our immersion in the world. The author offers us the incredible and credible world thanks to small details of insignificant appearance but which, however, makes the world more dynamic and makes him complex. Every constellation has its us and customs, their inhabitants have particular physical and mental features, definite and distinct norms. I must however confess that at the beginning, I found it strange that such mental feature of characteristics corresponds to such Home of the Zodiac especially, but subject was approached and an approach was developed by the author on this subject. In short, this world is very rich in diversity, the different constellations each are differently composed and have even their own political regime. As for the characters, I loved them, even if it seemed to me that only three protagonists were developed with depth. Rhoma is engaging, but I do not have an impression that she distinguishes itself from other heroines of novels youth. Besides, she is protective, too much does not trust her at the beginning, but I really liked the way it puts into perspective and to cashes shocks without batting an eyelid to keep the high head facing the Home of the Cancer. Contrary to what I thought during my first reading, I appreciated memories that she recollected being small, and her relation with her father particularly touched me, I felt its trouble and managed to become identified across its suffering. Having put this point to one side, as you would have guessed it with the summary, it is about a loving triangle; the heart of Rhoma wobbles therefore between its Guide Mathias, and the mysterious diplomat of the Balance, Hysan is mentor . It happens that there was a big shake-up in my way of looking at things between my first one and my second reading. I who preferred Mathias and from a distance during my first reading, and then I am to love Hysan with this rereading. Mathias is a soldier, he is very protective and seems unruffled. Hysan to him, is charismatic and the joy am infectious besides again and again, he cheers up Rhoma thanks to the luminous side. Across this rereading, I simply found much more interesting Hysan than Mathias, even if this last was my darling of the beginning. I realised that difference between two domiciled in the confidence which they brought to Rhoma: while Hysan believes her word for word and makes him a blind confidence, Mathias, he, seems to sometimes treat her as a little girl whom it is not possible to trust completely. Besides, even if my preference is henceforth for Hysan, all the same I love Mathias and all the same I think he is very touching in some stages. At the level of intrigue, she is sometimes untenable and rebounds take us suddenly from every chapter. the villain of history no spoil! - am very interesting and I like the way he intervenes every time, he is shrewd and clever, so his power seems impossible to double. Because a small negative point a tiny is well needed, it is promised I will confess that there are some small absent-mindednesses which typed me in the eye. Not big thing naturally, but I could determine it during my second reading. Scientific terms are sometimes badly used, so the author speaks to us about hypersonic speed in the space (what in itself is not very quick for advanced vessels) and just after, she speaks about speed of light as though it was about the same thing. For example, at instant, Rhoma launches the hypersonic speed and described the stars which are not more than slim features of light. Good token, I am not going more to haggle on this because it is very trifling, but it is necessary to know at least that Zodiac is not either a pure science fiction novel with very sought-after terms. Personally this did not disturb me more than this since the author offered us a panel of scientific neologisms. Besides, the first Zodiac volume is and will remain a huge blow of heart for me. the concept of constellations linked to astrological signs is very original, the world is even enriched to it thanks to tales and popular legends. Saga Zodiac can please the teenagers or even grown-up who search a nice history in the world well controlled, but I doubt that the big science fiction fans style could find their happiness there. Nishi knows very well that I do not like to speak about this history, only to ask a Sagittarius to contain his curiosity returns to ask a Cancer to leave a friend in the need. The one as other one, it is not in its nature. RAM: Fighting spirit. BULL: Application. GEMINIS: Imagination. CANCER: Protection. VIRGIN: Resource. BALANCE: Justice. SCORPION: Innovation. SAGITTARIUS: Curiosity. CAPRICORN: Wisdom. AQUARIUS: Philosophy. PISCES: Spirituality. Go aboard of vessel Equinox and follow the extraordinary adventures of Rhoma!
